Double Workshop ~ Macrame & Organic Indigo Nov 18th
Where? - An Tobairín, Bandon
When?
10:30-1pm ~ Macrame with Grace
1-2pm ~ lunch
2-4:30pm ~ Indigo dyeing with Ashleigh
Eco artist and natural dyer Ashleigh Ellis and Macrame extraordinary PacieGrews a.k.a Grace have teamed up to offer you a beautiful day to experiment with textural knots and rich natural dyes.
Come join for a morning of immersive macramé--the art of tying knots--and learn how to make your own sustainable, boho plant hanger using only your hands and some rope.
💙Macrame Workshop:
Grace, a macramé artist from West Cork and owner of pacie grews, will teach you the foundations of the craft with a few basic knots (that you'll also be able to use to recreate your own pieces at home again and again). You'll learn how to combine those knots to make a beautiful, functional plant hanger that can be kept and treasured or given as a special handmade gift.
Using only the highest quality eco friendly materials - everything is biodegradable and compostable - everyone will come away with their own design, as well as the skills to continue creating for years to come."
💙Organic Indigo Natural Dye Workshop:
Ashleigh will have an organic indigo vat prepared so that we can experiment with the rich blues from the indigo plant on cotton samples and learn traditional Japanese shibori techniques to make dappled patterns. Dye a beautiful soft muslin scarf and many shibori samples to bring home. Why not dip dye your intricately knotted plant hanger too?
You are invited to bring a secondhand textile of your own to give a new life in the vat. These need to be cotton/linen, and no larger than a tea towel or t-shirt. Washed textiles only.
Lunch ~
☕There are shops very close nearby, including the health food shop downstairs and an Aldi, and there are tables downstairs on the premises that we can use to sit eat and chat.
☕Cafe onsite
☕Possibility of homemade soup - tbc
